While this message is partly true, one should be cautious about Dubai also.
First of all the free zone area is called “Internet City” and not “Media City”. “Media City” is nothing but a cluster of buildings housing media related free zone companies. “Internet City” contains both technology companies with a base in the Middle East, as well as those companies like Hilton hotels etc with a call centre facility. So it is not entirely “software related” companies there.
Second: The freedom level in these areas are limited. Free Zone companies need not follow local labour laws followed by general companies. For instance, the gratuity (or leaving indemnity) in free zone companies is only one week per year of service, whilst it is vastly different outside i.e., it goes upto 30 days per year of work after five years of service. Most of the companies in UAE do not provide a housing facility. Therefore in some cases more than 50% of the take home pay goes into housing itself.
So parents DO HAVE TO TAKE PRECAUTIONS and verify if things are as rosy as they hear, before considering boys from Dubai. I am living here, and this is my honest opinion. Please verify the employment prospects of the boy, where he works, what facilities he has etc.

Unlike USA/UK, UAE and other Gulf countries are nearby to India and
people can reach India in within 5 hours and they even get paid
holiday for a month in a year for their home countries.
