[Kalyanam] KIT: Balasubramaniam's Bypass - Fund raising Re-Appeal

Dear Friends,

Kerala Iyers Trust (KIT) had circulated an appeal requesting support for
heart by-pass surgery of Mr.R Balasubramonium of Alappuzha.

We have so far received only Rs.66,803 against a target of Rs.1 Lakh. We request every one of you to please support this cause.

Quick Summary:

Balasubramonium, 52, needs to undergo a Bypass surgery to remove 3 blocks from his heart. He has had 3 attacks before this.

He is working as a part time accountant in shops in Alleppy as his employer closed down sometime back. He has one daughter who has just finished graduation & looking for work. His wife supports the family by undertaking small tailoring works in neighbourhood.

KIT finds this case a very genuine & deserving one and proposes to raise an amount of Rs.1 Lakh for this family to take care of the surgery expenses

KIT has taken a decision that any amount received in excess of Rs 100,000 would be kept in the KIT Corpus Fund and will be used to support any similar case in the future

The details on how to send your contributions for this cause is provided in the bottom of this email. Also the new account number for overseas contributions.

What KIT found:

Krishnanath, KIT Volunteer from Ernakulam made a telephonic contact with this family.

Further to that Shri G Mony on behalf of KIT visited the residence of Mr. Balasubramonium and family and filed the following field report

FIELD REPORT

As instructed by you, I have visited the house of Sri. R.Balasubramoniam and I am giving below a few information for your kind perusal

Balasubramonium is presently working as a Part-time Accountant  in some petty shops. He was terminated from service due to lock out at Kerala Spinners Ltd. His wife Parvathy is doing Tailoring (piece work). Their daughter Ms. B.S.Revathy has passed B.Sc. Maths with 89% marks.

They are residing in a rented house.  Finding very difficult to pull on day to day activities.  They are very anxious about their daughter¢s future studies and marriage.  Sri. R. Balasubramoniam has 4 brothers and a sister. As per his statement, all the above members of his family are not in a position to give financial support for his treatment. As per his wife¢s statement, her brothers are also not in a position to give financial support to her husband¢s treatment

Health condition  as per his statement

1st Heart attack on 1989  - 2nd & 3rd attack  - 2001 and 2003 respectively. He is undergoing the treatment of Dr. Raju George, Cardiologist in Kottayam Medical College

As per Dr.Raju George's advice, Patient is required an emergency surgery within 3 months - due to financial condition, the operation is delayed.

An amount of Rs.80,000/- to Rs.1 Lakh has to be spent if the operation is conducted at MCH Kottayam. But they apprehend about the facilities at MCH, Kottayam

On enquiry, Amritha Institute of Medical Science at Edappally, Ernakulam are also conducting the operation.  An amount of Rs.1.50 lacs has to be spent for the same.

They also contacted Sathya Sai Institute of Medical Science at Puttaparthi. The authorities informed that this operation can be conducted at free of cost, but they have to wait for another 3 years. It will be inhuman and unsympathetic, if we ask them to wait for such a long period of three years.

In this connection, I would like to state that the entire family especially his daughter Ms. B.S.Revathi is very much worried about her father¢s deteriorated health. An early operation is inevitable.

They mentioned a little amount kept for her studies and her marriage can be spent for the operation. It is not just to insist them to spend the amount for it.

Considering the above facts, I request your goodselves to take appropriate steps for an early action so that the surgery can be scheduled as early as possible.

Thanking you, Yours,

G Mony

District President - Kerala Brahmana Sabha, Alleppy.
