Kindly permit me take liberty in expressing my view as father of prospective bridegroom.
It is heartening to note that both brides and grooms are well aware what they want before getting to each other in to alliance. And the current situation where boys are more than girls, it is evident that it is girls are at dictating position.
The old system of girls parents approaching for suitable groom is not prevailing and it is welcome sign that both boys & and girls are equal.
Due to this boys parents also take initiative to contact the parents of suitable brides after going through the matrimonial columns. But the indifferent attitude of brides parents in not responding to contacts is quite surprising.
I am sure all members will agree if I say that basic courtesy needs to be observed by brides parents, at least by responding promptly even if they want to reject the proposal or approve. This situation is more found among Kerala brahmins.
