THE ORIGINAL APPEAL
------------ Dear Friends, Kerala Iyers Trust (KIT) received an appeal requesting support for medical treatment of Parvathi mami of Dombivili, from her daughter Lakshmi Sunder. Quick Summary: Parvathi mami, 75, fell in bathroom & broke her hip in August 2008, which needed immediate treatment and to complicate things, her kidney has also started functioning improperly. Parvathi mami who is also a BP patient & her 80 year old husband lives with their only daughter, Lakshmi Sunder, in Dombivili, near Mumbai. Lakshmi's financial status is not sufficient to support the medical treatment, which has so far cost Rs.80,000 and increasing due to ongoing medicine costs. She is living with her husband and their son and the whole family of 5 adults are trying to meet ends with a monthly income of Rs.7000. KIT finds this case a very genuine & deserving one and proposes to raise an amount of Rs.80,000 for this family to take care of the medical expenses and possibly pay off some of the loans taken for the treatment. KIT has taken a decision that any amount received in excess of Rs 80,000 would be kept in the KIT Corpus Fund and will be used to support any similar case in the future The details on how to send your contributions for this cause is provided in the bottom of this email. Also the new account number for overseas contributions. ============
The Background
The Appeal
Dear Sirs:
I have come to know about your charitable Trust through Mr.A.P.Raman. I am placing before you my need for financial assistance and request your organization to help me in my hour of need.
I have to bring to your kin notice that my mother S.R.Parvathi, 75 year old, fell down in the bathroom on Friday, 29th August 2008 and her hip got fractured. She is admitted in ICON hospital, Dombivli (East) and she is under the treatment of Dr.Dilip Patil. Since there is no improvement in her general conditions on date, she is not fit for operation. Dr.Patil also informed us that her survival chance is les, if the general conditions are not improved. I would like to mention that I am the only daughter of my parents and both of them are staying with me since last 20 years. They are fully dependent on me. My husband is LIC agent and he is the only earning member in our family. I am having a son who is doing his year PG. From my husband¢s earnings we can meet our family¢s day to day expenses, son¢s education expenses as well as my parent¢s routine medical expenses. After her hospitalization, till date we have spend approx.. Rs.80,000/- towards her hospitalization charges, medicines, pathology, x-ray, sonography, Blood infusion etc. To this expense, we have borrowed this amount from our friends and relatives. Hence we request you for financial help. If you require any medical bills, hospital receipts, etc the same will be submitted to you.
The major details of Rs.80, 000/- incurred by us are as under: Hospital charges (Bed charges+Physician) Rs.45, 000 Pathology+X- Medicines Rs.25, 000 ------------ Rs.80, 000 We shall be very much grateful to you, if you could help us in this critical situation so that we would be in position to pay back the loan that we have borrowed.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
(Lakshmi Sundar) ============ What KIT found:

FIELD REPORT
Here is an example of a dutiful and responsible daughter who is playing the dual role of a daughter and a son, by taking care of her aged mother, Mrs.S.K.Parvathy- In Detail: Aged parents who need continued support for their medical support,Her father is 80 years, a heart and BP patient requires Rs.500/-monthly for medical treatment. Her father was working as bus conductor at palakkad who met with an accident, when his bus hit a tree, injured and became incapable of doing anything. They were living in Mrs.Lakshmy' Her husband is currently without a job due to retrenchment. At present working as an LIC agent. Mrs.Lakshmy said that his income is not regular and stable, except a few months like january, Feb. and March. which is a known fact to all of us . He is also working as freelance accountant for Co-operative societies, where he earns about Rs.1000-1200/ Mrs.Lakshmy' Mrs.Lakshmy also said that, her husband is so generous and good that never leaves a stone unturned, to help his parents-in-law and his wife. He has borrowed from his friends and relatives to make up this initial amount of Rs.80000/- Mrs.lakshmy is SSLC, and was working earlier. But the responsibility to take care of the aged parents fell only on her shoulders, had to quit the job. Hats off to Mrs.Lakshmy, in such a petiable condition too, she takes care of her parents so affectionately. Also we should adore and appreciate her husband for giving full support standing beside her as a strong pillar. Even Mrs.Lakshmy underwent uterus removal not very long.Mrs.lakshmy used to run from pillar to post to manage a lumpsum amount of Rs.80000/- She contacted one of her relatives, Mr.Narayanaswamy AR, who lives in Vile parle. He asked her to contact Mr.AP.Raman of kamadhenu trust. Mr.Raman gave her KIT's address and suggested her to appeal. Mr.Raman also gave her Rs.15000/ as an immediate support for discharging her mother from the hospital. My sugession: By seeing the whole scenario, I feel, Mrs. Lakshmy should receive a financial help from our members. which can be about Rs.75000-Rs. Mrs.Subbalakshmy. ============
