Dear Friends,
============
Appeal received from Sri Viswanath Palakkad
This is to seek some financial support for a poor family known to me personally, from those who have affordablity and attitude to help . ============ What KIT found:
S Narayanaswami conducted the field report:
This information is submitted after the FVR (Field Verification Report) about Smt Easwari, W/o Ramaswamy (Raju) residing at TC 28/1355. Thanu Nagar, Sreekanteswaram, Trivandrum . Over and above the info available in the mail, i like to add up the following informations.
Ramaswamy is aged around 52 and he is basically a handicap. Ramaswamy is now working as an attender in Govt. General Hosp, Trivandrum . He is appointed as a daily wages employee/ casual worker now. He got this appointment very recently through Govt. Employment Exchange. He is likely to get his job regularised, then he will be eligible for pension etc. But as of now, it's not sure whether he will be regularized in that post. He along with his aged mother and his wife are residing in a small tile roofed house with 2 rooms. The house does not have toilet attached to it. It's a set of 15 houses in a compound, with common toilet facilities. They are residing in this house for more than 50 years. They are paying Rs.600 as rent. Raju's mother Smt. Parvathy is aged around 74 years. Before Raju got this appointment through Employment exchange, the family's sole income was Rs 400 monthly financial aid from Kerala Brahmana Sabha and Raju's minimal income from the temple where he was working as a Poojari.
Easwari is working as a sweeper in Devaswom temple, Under Govt of Kerala. She is from Gurukal community (Non Brahmin). Since none came forward to give a bride for Raju, who is basically a handicap and was not having a permanent income, it was his mother, who took initiative to find a partner for Raju so that, even after Pavathy's days are over, there is some one to care Raju, who needs a support. Unfortunately, the couple does not have any issues till date. Further, with this medical ailment, Raju is finding very hard to continue his job and caring his wife. They doesn't have children yet.
Easwari's medical problem started some 8 months back when she underwent an uterus removal surgery in Govt. hospital for Women. That surgery was successful. She was in rest for few days and went to her job as the family needs her salary too to continue their normal routine. It was at that time, she has faced some problem with kidney stone and she got admitted in a hospital and that problem was cleared through key hole surgery. Later, she felt some difficulties in her abdomen and surrounding areas. Even though she consulted many Dr's her problem was very much bothering. Of late, she suffered lot of pain and mental agony. By this time, what this surrogate family saved in their life has been exhausted.
Now she is admitted in a moderate hospital under the care of a expert Surgeon. Although there is some improvement, it's not sure what is the nature of problem she is facing with which is yet to be identified, only after that there is a possibility of surgery.
I went to the residence first. There i could meet only Raju's mother. Then i went to see Easwari in the hospital. It was really a heartbreaking scene, with tubes connected to her body. She was really struggling to speak itself.
I would able to get a medical feedback with the support of my Cousin brother Dr.Sankar (Professor & Head of Pathology Dept, Govt. Medical College, Trivandrum ). He has spoken with the concerned Dr regarding the nature of problem Easwari is facing with. The same is written below for our reference.
"Smt Easwari had been operated upon earlier for laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Conclusion
The family has spent substantial expenditure towards the uterus removal surgery and for the ailment of gall bladder stone removal. They have spent around Fifty Thousand Rupees for this treatment by selling off all their valuable belongings they were having. Now the present treatment expenses are being met by some of the immediate family members of Raju & Easwari. Now KIT has to explore our options.
